  California Restrictions:

All python, cobra and western and prairie rattlesnakes are not allowed to be transported into California.  Any imported Exotic skins that we use have cleared U.S. Fish and Wildlife.  Any product exported containing said Wildlife will also have to be validated for export by the U.S. Wildlife in order to be properly imported into the purchasing country.

LeatherPlus agrees and complies with California's Fish and Game laws: Title 14, section 14. Also, Title 14 California Administrative Code section 185 reads as follows:

Subdivision a. "Except as otherwise provided, no person shall, for
commercial purposes, take, possess, purchase, sell, transport,
import or export any native reptile or amphibian, or any parts thereof..."

"This provision prohibits importation of any species which is found in California even though the individual snake originated in another state.  The species of rattlesnake found in California is known under the scientific name Crotalus Viridus.   The Prairie Rattlesnake found in South Dakota is the same species." Quoted by John K. Van De Kamp, Attorney General, March 25, 1985.

The Western Diamondback Rattlesnake (Crotalus Attrox) is native to California under Title 14 and therefore is illegal for commercial purposes to take, possess, purchase, sell, transport, import or export in California.

The Eastern Diamonback (Crotalus Adamanteus) do not occur in California and products manufactured from such skins may be sold in California.   Quoted by James P. Zobel, Patrol Captain of the Department of Fish and Game for the State of California on June 21, 1985.

Let it be known that all rattlesnake products going to California by Leather Plus are of the Eastern Diamondback (Crotalus Adamanteus) species and, as such, are legal in California.
